Actually, there is benefit. VX-352 gives a host of inputs as the standard (non-rack mount) Voyager has on the back panel. VX-351 on the other hand is the opposite, outputs for a number of connections including LFO, envelopes, etc. What good is it without touchpad and kbd and LHC? Not quite as good as on an Old School (which also does not have touchpad), but the LFO out, S+H out, Envelope outs, 2 mults, 2 attenuators, etc.
Am not sure if Midi sent into the RME results in Pitch and Gate being sent out the VX-351 but if so, that is a handy use for driving a FreqBox, and SEM or other 1V per octave OSCs/Synths. Also don't know if the Voyager's LFO can be sync'd to Midi but if so, that feature of the 351 is also great, use it to pulse steps on a MurF 105/B etc.
With the exception of the ENV outs, just about all of that can be had via a CP-251, which one could argue is money better spent but if you have a bunch of other gear, having a self running LFO, and Envelope that can be applied to other Foogers, etc. is of some value. As always, it comes down to how much money, space and time do you have?
