Slightly different finish to metal faceplate on phaser

Post by impact studios » Sun May 03, 2009 8:20 am

Hi

I have just bought a new Moogerfooger Phaser and noticed that the metal faceplate has a textured finish, rather than the smooth finish on the ringmod i already own...
Is this rare or are they all being made with this finish now....

My new ringmod's faceplate is textured so it must be the standard way now.

My LPF is like that...others are old ones...and delay print is kinda crap...
:? Ring is OK...but I think the ones with this sharp finish are more reliable.

How so?

I like the look of the textured finish on my phaser better than the flat older ones. But I haven't heard of any difference in build quality.

Does anyone know if the textured finish is also on the newer cp-251's...?

I hardly ever noticed.

My MF-101 & MF-103 both have the rough finish while the
MF-102, MF-104Z, MF-105, & MF-107 sport the smooth.

weird didn't know they did this, all mine are the smooth finish. neat, i hope it was more than a cosmetic upgrade, maybe this helps the screen printing last longer.

I dont like the new finish, it doesnt have the old modular module look..
i like it when everything looks like a set.

Likely a result of their now offering lunar white finish (of the body). Could be a different paint shop? I'm about to order a white RingMode w/Black wood... wonder if I'll regret that later? (too trendy)

Hey,
My Theremin had a smooth finish, but when I upgraded it to a plus it was a porous finish.
My RIngmod and Delay are smooth, the Freqbox is porous.
MidiMurf is porous.
THe cp251 is smooth, but the Vx351 has a screen printed overlay glued on.
Taurus Pedals-overlay.

Voyager performer was smooth, Voyager Select has overlay (due to backlighting).

I think this is a relatively new switch (within the last year or two. I believe that the porous metal finish rejects fingerprints better but I really prefer the smooth finish. Id rather have them all the same, but thats just me being OCD about my gear.

I think the white faced Moogs will be the rarest in the long run. Theres already over 10,000 + Ringmods out there, and alot of customers might not be aware of Novamusik and their increadible prices if they are just looking to buy a Fooger they are more likely to go to a catalog dealer I theorize.
