Issues using the Voyager with a sequencer under OS 2.0

Post by martin » Sun Apr 18, 2004 2:26 am

Hi
I recently updated to OS2.0. I had OS 1.0 before, and had connected the Voyager to a sequencer (Yamaha QY70). The MIDI ins and Outs are connected correctly, and MIDI in and out channels also activated correctly.
THen I updated to 2.0, and now the communication between the V and the QY seems messed up.
This is what happens (connections unchanged, and I followed all steps of the update to 2.0 correctly - at least I followed all the steps in the update document)
I can send midi data to the sequencer and the QY detects and shows midi data flowing in. However, when I play notes on the QY, the midi LED does not do anything. (this did work before the update).
When i send midi date from the Voyager to the QY, some notes get rrecorded, and others do`not get recorded. When using step by step input in the QY, these notes are recorded, but agan, they are not transmitted so that i get any sound. When I play realtime into the qy, most notes
Can anyone help with this issue? Did I omit some important step setting up midi in the Voyager? (This worked fine before... *sigh*)

While I'm at it... When I got the Voyager I thought I could relax and use a nice analog instrument, but with all this update business I find myself wasting more time troubleshooting than actually playing the thing. is it just me or does this upset others too? If I could wish for one thing, it would be an instument that works great without having to mess around updating the dang OS. all the time. I am at the brink of saying: This thing isn't really for me anymore :o(

Martin: ...all this update business...
How many updates did we got in the last two years? Not that much. And if you liked the MMV in a certain OS version, no one force you to do the updates. The update from 1.5 to 2.0 took me about 10 mins. The update to 2.1 about the same time. Including the pitch wheel calibration. I think I spend an average of more then ten mins per year for cleaning contacts of old synths. Or calibrating old synth. And even a piano need some work to be done every year.
I really like the new OS 2.1 for its new features.

Check the new OS version 2 MIDI IN settings in the MASTER menu. They are explaned in the .PDF inside the 2.0 and 2.1 update ZIP file.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

When you only get certain recorded notes go to the the Master menu and select Midi Key Order ,make sure that is set to "none". Did you have this midi in problem with version 1.5?
