SUB37 sequencer errors or not?

Post by anghel » Sat Sep 10, 2016 3:41 pm

Hi there, is there a way to set the sequencer to start every sequence on step one?? right now if my current sequence is on step 13 and i hit the next sequence it continues the new sequence from step 13 .. ?? :) Also every time i save a preset/sequence while it is running, the SUB goes out of bpm/clock sync ..?? :)

Usually all my sequencers (from elektron or mfb) start the next sequence after the current sequence has completed all the steps, and of course the next sequence will start on time and from step 1, not randomly as i push a millisecond before or after that button ... with the moog sequencer you can't be sure if the next part will start on step 1 or will continue from the step you did not pushed EXACTLY in time .. let's say i have a 16 step sequence, i hit the next part of my song on step 16, the next sequence has 64 steps, i try to be in time, but the next sequence will start on step 16 or 1 .. depending on how fast i was :) and this is no good :) .. i can't compete with machines and that's why other manufacturers do it the other way.

I use just a clock from the mfb tanzbar (i never had any problems giving clock from this device), and play the internal sequencer of the SUB37.

Hi anghel,

* try this option in GLOBAL MENU 2.2 (Page 47 of the Manual)...

++++++++++++++++++++++++
DLAY PGM CHG
If Delay Program Change is ON, then a preset change made while a sequence is playing
will be delayed until the end of the sequence. At the downbeat of the first step, it will switch
to the newly selected preset. If the new preset also contains an active sequence, it should also
begin playing seamlessly at this time. If DLAY PGM CHG is set to OFF (default) the preset
will change instantly.
++++++++++++++++++++++++

* Regarding the SUB going out of bpm/clock sync every time you save a preset/sequence while it is running - well, you may have just found a limit of the Sub-37.
Everything has a limit, except the universe. My Cubase stutters, sometimes locks up when I save a big song while it's playing.

Most likely you're experiencing CPU congestion - too many things are going on at once for the internal computer to keep up.
Loads and Saves are intensive processes and usually not recommended in critical real-time situations.

A simple test would be to setup a really basic sequence - slow tempo, whole note clock division (Page 52), INIT preset, no RATCHET. controls, modulation, glide, MIDI out, LEDs etc.
Then save the preset while it is running and see if it loses sync.

The sequencer has something to do with different time divisions from sequence to sequence, if i play a sequence clocked externally and use a slower time (arp) division (say 1/2), and start the next sequence which is say 1/4, the original downbeat is lost for a few steps .. :( i can see the error on the screen, how at least 2 steps from the next sequence is played with the time division of the previous sequence, and after this slow reset everything is in time bpm wise but the downbeat is lost while the SUB37 is resetting the arp time division .. i don't even know how to search for this if it was already explained. I can't find in the manual the explanation and i tried (i think) everything in the sequencer setup menus.

I forgot to sync something?
