Hi Gang,

I’ve been playing with a Mother-32 for the past month or so.

I can now finally answer any questions you might have.
(It’s been frustrating to read all of the speculation and not be allowed to chime in;-)

is the oscillator of the super-stable variety of something like a sub phatty? also how hot is the oscillator into the filter and can you control it’s gain into the filter?

Have you used it with your Sub37? Both as a third VCO and as a MIDI to C/V control unit from the S37 to a ???

So far, I’ve only used the Mother-32 with itself. (So many things to try!)

I have a really big out-of-town gig on Friday and am teaching a 6-hour Synth Class on Sat.

But I’ll give it a try when I come back next week.

That one I can answer! It’s a fully-blown modular synth that’s shaped like Keith Emerson.

You just jam 1/4" cables into various areas of his body and listen for the results.

Yes, it will!
But you have to use rapid sequencing of arpeggiated chord notes (a la Nintendo) to simulate polyphony.

Note On -
0 through 120 = -5v to +5v

  • Gate at GATE jack

Velocity -
Can be set to drive the Assignable Output jack as -5v to +5v
96 or greater sets a Step as Accent ON

MIDI Pitch Bend -
-5v to +5v

CC 5: Portamento Time
CC 65: Portamento On/Off
CC 64: Sustain
CC 1, 2, 4, 7: Used to generate CVs at the ASSIGNABLE OUTPUT

Prog Change 1 - 64 chooses Seq #
Prog Change 71 -86 chooses one of 16 Assignable Output modes.

just to chime in I am also interested in the same questions as slabwax regarding how the Mother interfaces with the Sub 37. That would probably me the most immediate reason for me to want one.

Second, will buying one turn me into a slave to eurocrack modular :slight_smile:

What happens when you take, say, the VCO SQR Out to the VCO Freq In? Will it modulate itself?

EDIT Just glanced at the manual - I would guess VCO OUT to VCO LIN FM Input would be what I want :slight_smile:

One more question Dan, How easy is the sequencer to use in comparison to the Sub 37? Can the CV easily be used to sequence the Sub 37?

If I hooked this and my Minitaur up to my Mbp will logic see them as separate devices? I was looking at a moogerfooger but this is really much more tempting to add to my Minitaur. Thanks!

Midi Poly chain wth more than one Mothers ,is it possible?

No, I don’t think so. This required MIDI out which the Mother does not have. You can sync multiple Moms via CV tho.

EDIT Maybe you mean have the controlling keyboard go into a splitter and then to the MIDI ins of multiple Mothers? That case may be theoretically possible, but there is nothing in the manual that I can see about poly chaining.

Another question … can the LFO be synced to the VCO to be used as a second VCO? I know the site says a max of 600 hz but wondering if this a practical thing.

is the Moog 962 keyboard ONLY for the more expensive modulars or could you use it as the mother keyboard for your whole modular setup?

via the Mother 32 as the hub and then the KB CV Out of the Mother 32 as the connection for your modular rig?

if so, that would be fresh

and when do we get to see the video of mr fisher tweakin all the knobs
