Moogerfooger question:
Is the patchbay i/o voltage compatible with Moogerfoogers? Would be something to be able to use Freqbox easily as second oscillator and CP-251.

does the vc lfo track 1v/oct, so that it can be used as a second vco?
(the werkstatt’s doesn’t)
about the second crossfader (mix1, mix2, vc mix):
the manual says that it is dc coupled and all the examples in the manual are about mixing or attenuating control voltage signals. does this crossfader work with audio signals, too?
[edit:] actually, this is answered in the manual:
This is a DC-coupled, patchable, voltage-controlled mixer/attenuator that allows
two different > CV or audio > signals to be blended together […]
note to self: rtfm. [/edit]
there are two ways to achieve this:
midi polychaining: use the (sadly, discontinued) mutable instruments midipal (or one of its diy successors). its ‘dispatcher’ app can turn any combination of midi-synthesizers into individual voices of one meta-synth. if you use a pc for sequencing, i’m sure there will be some software that does the same.
polyphonic midi-to-cv/gate: use a polyphonic multichannel midi-cv/gate interface, like the kenton pro 2000 or one of the excellent muc interfaces. or if you prefer eurorack, there are modules like the vermona quad midi or the upcoming doepfer a-190-5.
yes, sequences can be any length up to 32 steps. just have a look at the manual.

The Werkstatt does track to 1v/oct, you just have to calibrate it. If Mother does not track 1v/oct out of the box (which would surprise me since they are aiming at Eurorack) then you can calibrate it via the front panel access holes and the supplied calibration tool.
my question was about the lfo, not the vco.
Hey Dan,
Are the OSC, Filter, Envelopes, basically the same as the ones that are in the Sub phatty series/Werksatt/Minitaur?
Does the Mother-32 have discrete audio/CV pathways? Would sending higher than 5v into the gate cv in cause any harm?
Thanks!
Hi Dan, as we wait for Mom to arrive …
. We do have a couple of questions.
What would be the ideal integration between the Arp and my Mother … I saw both have MIDI in. Interesting that folks are going strictly MIDI in these days. Both have 1/8 Gates and Cv so i guess we could mess around that way.
What would be the ideal integration between the Voyager XL? 1/8 to 1/4 cables to go Gate/CV out/in?
Any ideas on Theremin Plus Gate out / Pitch CV out?
Finally, thoughts on integration of Mom with the family of MoogerFoogers
Thanks in advance for any and all FEEDBACK!!!
I have a (possibly dumb) question. How well would the Mother-32 work with a Voyager Old School? Could I use it to sequence the Voyager?
Thanks
It seems stable not long after power up, but I haven’t meticulously held it up against a precise reference.
FWIW, the manual states:
Your Mother-32 is an analog instrument and should be allowed 10-15 minutes to warm up before use.
In cases where it has been left in a cold car overnight, for example, it may take as long as 25 minutes
before oscillator tuning has stabilized. Do not operate the Mother-32 in direct sunlight.
The MIX knob balances between VCO only (fully CCW) and NOISE / EXT (fully CW).
So, it doesn’t seem like there’s an “overdrive” amount that can be provided by the MIX knob.
But, you could always go from VCO SAW out (or VCO PULSE out) to a gain box and then back into the EXT. AUDIO input.
I don’t have my Minitaur or Werkstatt in the same building as my M-32, but it has to be much closer to the Werkstatt as its basic sections are similar.
I’m guessing that they’re both roughly the same with the M-32 being about 25% wider.
Hi Mike,
VCO PULSE out to VCO 1V/OCT in seems to make the OSC go about 2Hz (around two audible clicks per second).
As you change the PULSE WIDTH knob from fully CCW to fully CW, the freq goes up to an audible freq just a bit above the original note chosen by the keyboard.
Silence seems to be the only result of sending either VCO PULSE out or VCO SAW out into the VCO LIN FM in.
While its PULSE WAVE (set to 50%) is VERY fat, and the GLIDE and RESONANCE are up to the task, it doesn’t have the sound of multiple, detuned OSCs.
Gentle use of PWM gets you part of the way. One or two more M-32s would probably get you a very satisfactory result.
Since the M-32 doesn’t have USB, Logic would see whatever MIDI/USB interface you have connected (via 5-pin DIN MIDI) to the M-32.
I totally get that. The Minitaur and M-32, connected in various ways via CVs would be a long-lasting source of enjoyment.
(But then again, so would any of the moogerfoogers and a Mother-32!)
Without patching, the LFO only goes to 350Hz.
You can get up to 600Hz by adding voltage to the LFO RATE input.
So, realistically, it wouldn’t terribly useful as a second VCO.
Although Mr. Fisher has already recorded a Mother-32 video demo, he has been requested not to release it until Oct. 8th (Thurs.)
The features are most reminiscent of the Werkstatt. Here are some pics:

The manual gives specific allowable overages for various ins:

Hi Dan,
I hope your gig went well this past weekend. Also thanks for taking the time to answer all of our questions.
Demon Dan thanks for the reply!

Thanks, Dan. That’s mildly disappointing but this is the same-ish behavior on my Pittsburgh Synth Block. Ah well, no bug noises for me…guess I’ll just have to patch that up on my 5U ![]()
