Tuning the Voyager

Hello everybody, I have this question:

recently I updated the Voyager OS to 3.5.
Now, I could be wrong about this, but does it change the tuning of the Voyager?
I noticed that the whole instrument was down a couple of semitones. Now I must admit I had not played the instrument for some weeks ...

EricK; I'm trying to send a patch that I've created, so just MIDI'll do.
The program runs on a laptop, I assume?

btw: MidiOX is not gonna work for me. It's windows-only [cough]

loading sounds into voyager - which device?

Hello,

I need to load my own sounds into a Voyager, in a studio, what (small) device could I use to do this? Could I use a portable HD, or does it have to be a laptop? How does the process work?

@ Mike:
Thanx Mike, very nice explanation.
@ Eric:
Wow, Eric, your comparison chart, it's very comprehensive. Thanx. BTW, I make all kinds of music, some jazz, some grooves, some ambient. I like to use the melodic capabilities of the Voyager (as opposed to the more 'noisy' ones).
The idea of having ...

Moogerfooger x-mas

Hi all,

as x-mas is approaching fast, I'm thinking to get me one of those moogerfoogers because my voyager is feeling a bit lonely.
Totally new to these: which one should I buy ?

I don't really understand the differences yet. Is there a comparison chart or something worthwile reading ? I heard ...

That'd be very cool.
People could also exchange patches easier.

Singing through the Voyager

I'm trying to create a certain vocal effect, similar to what Frampton did with the talkbox. Would I get this when I plug a microphone into the Voyager?
And in general for other vocoding effects: is the Voyager a good tool for that or should I try something like the Korg Radias better?

nice.
Can you share a bit on the creative process?
Not musically, I dig that, but video-wise?
I'm doing similar things but like to know more about the video fx.

On the sequence I'd say the second is the Ion, because the weird phase on the one note and the boomy mid on the other note.
On the single tone at the end I'd say the second is the Moog because it sounds more lively when the tone decays.
Yep, it's a hard one.
If I just take a guess, and follow my ...

It's not a completely fair listening test:

you should play the bassline alternatively with the Moog and the other one, as well as the melody: than you will certainly hear the difference...
It's confusing now because the synths both play different melodic material.

no, not at all,
just make sure you set your recording pre-amp at unity gain, and than slowly dial in the headphone knob, until you get good level without overloading.
