Pasta inside Lil' Phatty?

Post by tafkaz » Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:35 pm

I think I've got a brand new technical problem that you've never before encountered...

Yesterday, by way of what could only be a miracle, a piece of raw pasta fell onto the keyboard of my little phatty. It then rolled off the black keys and into the little gap behind them. I could see the piece of pasta, and an attempt to grab it with needle nosed pliers only pushed it back further. Essentially, there is a piece of pasta that has somehow fallen into my synthesizer. I'm sure this isn't really optimal conditions for a Little Phatty, so I was wondering how exactly would be the best way to get inside and get it out.

God this is weird... :? :? :?

yeah...I knew this was going to turn me into a punchline...

vacuum cleaner won't work. it's actually INSIDE the body of the synth. I just need to know how to open up the body and get to the innards (i.e. whatever is directly behind the keys).

This is actually fairly easy to do..just grab a philips screwdriver and use it on all screws you see 8)

I did the same thing to get to the board for updating my phatty with a USB debugger..

It's easy, and really difficult to actually damage anything at all :D

This reminds me a little of the time I spilled wine all over my mixing board. The tech's first question was: red or white? Turns out I was lucky it was red...

It would be cool if an Ashville restaurant offered a Nyotaimori special during Moogfest with a choice piece of vintage gear in place of the beautiful woman. The look on the faces of the passer-bys would be priceless.

you could just sautee the phatty in a nice white clam sauce and enjoy a nice analog meal.

The pasta, being a non-conductive material, will cause no harm to the inner workings of your Phatty, other than adding a few carbs to the analog circuitry. You may have to recalibrate. However, if you are really adventurous, you can add some extra pasta pieces which will also allow your LP to double as an analog shaker.
