where in your chain is the MURF?

Post by dealer » Tue Aug 31, 2004 1:22 pm

hey kids.

I was going to pick up my MURF and was debaing where the hell in my chain of effects it will go. so I thought I'd ask all of you where you think it should go. after delays, before distortions, etc.

what do y'all think?

The MuRF is a filter bank, so it needs frequencies to filter to be perceived as an effect. It does sound quite nice after a distortion, but pre-distortion can sound nice as well. Best to experiment and find out what suits you best!

I like to use it after OD, dist or fuzz and before modulation effects, delay or reverb. That setup allows me to blend in clean input with MuRF olone and unfiltered OD, dist or fuzz blending with MuRF affected OD, dist or fuzz. My other options is to use it last to take advantage of it's dual outputs.

that's exactly what I thought I'd end up doing and I did. a little OD to boost, and keeping all modulation effects afterwards. a hard flange can make that thing sound crazy.
