modulation route bug?

Post by peter ripa » Sat Aug 21, 2004 9:07 am

creating some snaredrums i noticed something strange.

i use the volume env to modulate the pitch via the pedal bus (PGM).
with the PGM source set to vol env and PGM dest to pitch noice leaks through to each of the oscillators and theres no way of turning them up in the mixer without also getting some noise. noise that sounds just like the one coming from the noise section.
turning up the modulation amount gradually increases the noice until the knob is at about 3 and then doesnt seem to increase the noice further.

since it is a SD i was going to use some noise anyway but i would like to add it myself.

id be grateful for a comment

regards,
peter

Mmmh, sounds like you may have some pod-mapping doing the unwanted noise.

Peter,

I check it closer:
- I used the init patch (EDIT/INIT. PARAMETERS)
- set the Pedal Bus Modulation Source switch full clockwise
- set the Pedal Bus Modulation Source to "Volume Env"
- set the Mod destination switch full counter clockwise
- set the Mod shaper fully clockwise
- set the Mod atmount to max
- set the Volume envelope attack and decay to 2'o Clockj position
- set the sustain to zero

-> played it with no noise audible
-> changed to oscillators volume: no noise audible

I am running OS 2.3 here.

Try to do recreate it using the "INIT. PARAMETERS" function and the process I wrote above. If it still behaving strange then its time to call wonder what's wrong with your Voyager.

try the pedal mod amount at 2 (9 o clock)
mod dest pitch
volume attackat zero
and volume decay at 12 oclock
sustain zero

your setting gives no noise here either.

i tried it with an initiated patch and still got noise.
works with the mod wheel as well .
sounds like the osc are being noisy when theyre swept

im still att 2.1. ill try upgrading.

I just checked it with your settings:
Again no noise.
Just a real cheesy drum sound.

www.peterripa.com/mp3/noiseexample.mp3
shows my sd patch with the amount of vol env routed to pitch gradually increased as i play. its not a big thing but the noise definetely increases with the sweep range.
