Uses for the MP-201 sans Foogers

Post by zorbas » Tue Aug 25, 2009 8:38 pm

Greetings Doods,

I wanted to poll you all with a question:

Without having any Foogers to control, how useful/engaging is a MP 201 multipedal? (btw, I would be using it with the ole Phatty)

I do plan on grabbing some Foogs in the near future, but being pretty new to synths and cv's and the like, I wondered what this pedal might let me do through/with/to a LP WITHOUT having outside influences such as Foogers.

I know that it can be a powerful ally in sonic experimentation by controlling some inputs on the MoogerFoogers, but can it do anything interesting straight into a Phatty?

Make sense? Any applications that you guys use would be appreciated too.

Peace

I've found the MP201 extremely useful straight into the LP. I assign each of the channels to control different parameters of the LP...either with CV control or MIDI CC signals. I also set the mp-201 to send program changes to change patches on the LP and I'm hoping to send separate MIDI signals to Ableton Live.

Basically, even without foogers the pedal is an uber-expression pedal for any device accepting midi signals.

You'll love it!

It can do a lot of stuff with the LP. You're adding four new modulation sources to any of the CV inputs or any parameter that takes a CC MIDI code. You can start modulating things like the octave setting of OSC 2, any of the envelope controls, or even the rate of the LP's LFO. Lots of opportunities for new sounds.

Plus, the lights on the Phatty follow the MIDI signals, which is good eye candy.
