Volume knob affects other devices

Post by marcelM » Thu Jul 23, 2009 4:24 pm

Yesterday I got my Voyager so I'm very new to this forum.
The instrument is just great, it was a dream for over 30 years now.
So maybe you can imagine how excited I was when I unpacked this "electronic Stradivari" (pfffff ...).

So everything's great but I have one question to which I couldn't find the answer in the manual.
When connected to another MIDI-synth , the Minimoog's volume-knob also affects the volume of the connected device.
I don't like this too much.
It is probably easy to switch this off, but how?

greetings

There is no way to do this. Actually many modern synths send out the midi controller data #7 when using the volume knob. So this is not a Voyager-only problem.
You may disable the usage of this controller on your midi receiving keyboard.
Rudi Linhard (RL here), the one and only software programmer of the Voyager said in another thread, that he consider to add a way of switching the sending of this controller off.
As work around, you may use the headphone audio output and use the headphone volume. This is not sending this midi controller 7 data.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Hello Till
(did I see your name also in the Waldorf forum?)

Well, hopefully RL is programming this "in".
I wouldn't know how else I could set a balance between the Mini and, let's say, the VL70m, other then bending over to the mixer all the time, I like playing around with volume-balancing for those more subtle changes.

But thanks for your answer, at least I know I'm not that blunt having not found it.
And maybe the headphone-out works fine: I'm going to try it first rather then looking for controller 7 in all my other synths (which may not be there also).

Thanks again !!
Marcel
