moog theremin registry

Post by dasmfa » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:20 pm

so there is a certain other website that has a registry for the orginal RCA theremins...why don't we have one for moog/big briar theremins? i have a small collection of theremins (obtained over several years) and they want to know where some of their brothers and sisters are! i saw the posting of the series 91B on here and was floored that someone thought it was a leon theremin unit! (i am the proud owner of a 91B, purchased back in '95). maybe i'm way off base here and no one is concerned about the 'older' instruments, but i think it would be great to see some of dr. moogs theremins and what's become of them.

let me know if there are any others out there like me...

my current collection:

big briar series 91B
moog vanguard
big briar etherwave
maestro TH-1
and some other random 'junk' theremins i've picked up

Count me in. I am the guardian of an Etherwave Standard, Etherwave Pro Ltd., EtherVox, and Melodia. Since it has been an "open adoption" they too would like to know the where-abouts of their siblings.

what do you think of your ethervox? i was going to get one when they first came out, saved up the $3500, then they jacked up the price to $5000. i never got the chance to even play one. haven't ever met anyone who owns one.

So far so good. I wound up having to fork out $6000 +$300 for shipping, etc. to get it on Ebay. It does more then I have learned how to do with it. But so far I like the choices of sound that it gives me, and the scale field is very consistent. I give it a thumbs up. You can still get one for $4000 to $7000 on Ebay if you keep a good look out for one. One on Ebay sold this month for around $4600 with a non original stand. I am selling my Melodia right now on Ebay. I need to pay a bill, what a shame. They are so rare.

Inventory for the registry

Post by Cruzingoose » Thu Jul 30, 2009 2:14 am

Hi fellow thereminsti,

The old saying is true, "bet you can't have just one". I'm new to the board after being a long time lurker. But the registry is a good idea. My toys include a tube type theremin I built in the mid 80s. It needs to have a few dents removed and some components replaced that were crushed during a move. A Big Briar Etherwave Signiture Series #MSS764 that plays beautifully, A Etherwave Std Kit I just bought, but not assembled yet, (for comparison) and a Burns B3 Deluxe which is in the hospital being repaired.
