FX your Synths til it kills !

Looks like guitar players enjoying them self mess their floor with numerous pedals/fx, Just curious what fx/multi fx you guys use (hardware) besides the foogers that (also) good for synths cos I need some categorized suggestions. Good multi fx processor preferred (all in one would be fx-tive for bucks

Personally i use a Kurzweil KSP-8
Although a friend of mine gets some great results with his TC Electronic Fireworx

Personally, I find that single, dedicated effects pedals generally have better features. There are so many opinions in this area though I will not even venture into it....

For my rig, I use a TC Electronic M300. It has two channels of effects, 1)delays, choruses, flangers, tremolos ets, and 2) reverbs. I like it because it is dead simple to use live, no submenus. It is so simple to use that there is not need to program presets. The effects are good enough for live use. They are about you can find them new and used. They are inexpensive.

T.C. M350 or Lexicon MX200 for cheap multi-FX.
Maybe even the Behringer Virtualizer Pro if you want even cheaper.

But I agree with r05c03. Single effect units, especially analog, sound much better to me.
Electro-Harmonix has some cheap pedals that sound great (and some expensive ones too).
Buy used. Old Boss, DOD and Ibanez analog pedals sound great on synths too, not just guitars.

Oh, and also consider that many rack effects will have midi capabilities and at the very least they will automatically clock sync so that you can get some very nice tempo/LFO synced delays...

i use a deluxe memory man, a ibanez CS9 (awesome Chorus pedal), and an MXR Bass DI+ (distortion and EQ boost). if you use effects pedals in your mixer set up for recording, you're going to want to use an active re-amping device to trick the pedals into believing that they are receiving guitar input levels.

I've always just plugged synths straight into pedals and never had a problem that way. I don't think it is needed. Most of these things are built to accept a wide range of input impedances.

The opposite isn't always true though. If something is designed to typically handle line-level inputs, you'd probably need a DI box for a guitar to sound right plugged into it.

i've had impedance issues while using pedals in a aux send/return situation before. an active re-amping device solved that problem. when i'm playing live i just run through the pedals and send them through my DI.

I use the age old, nasty orange MXR Phase 90 for some slow swirl and then a new Digitech delay I just got...super trippy (it plays in REVERSE) and gives that classic analog-esque 70's 'trickle' of notes pouring over each other...I get the best results with the delay and a reverb in the amp effects loop and the phase between the LP and the amp.

As a guitarist, I think that while multi-effects units are convenient and easier on cost, they are Jacks of All Trades, but Masters of None, plus you can't separate the temporal effects (delays, verbs, echos) from drivers (phase, OD, flange) in the signal chain.

Get a phase 90, some delay of your choice and a EHX Big Muff (Russian) and you'll be good to go!!

i've been playing guitar for 45 years and have amassed a pretty big collection of effects pedals. i don't use any for my synths. in my studio, i run my analog synths through a mixer with separate aux busses for digital reverb, delay and chorus. recently i picked up a $50 digitech RP55 that allows for up to 8 simultaneous effects, as well as amp/cab modeling and EQ...been using it with an old prodigy, setting it up with chorus, delay and reverb only. it was cheap and it does the job....and it's small, easy to tuck out of the way.

I just got an EH small clone for my phatty, very lush chorus, and a breeze to use, I just love those EH guys!

I use a small stone (but a clone one) with my phatty and i really enjoy it!

For my LP i use a MF 101, MF 102, MF 105B, CP-251 and a WMD Geiger counter, i've found really fun patches but i think i need to start to write them down

i don't know if you could consider it an fx unit but the multipedal works its magic too..
