Question regarding the installation of VX 351. Please Help.

Post by January Jaunt » Fri Jun 12, 2009 3:21 am

Im thinking of buying the VX-351, and im in doubt of how the installation works.
I have been reading the installation instructions, and it seems as if I only have to move some cabels inside the voyager in order to make the VX work.

Is this correct, of do i need a new print board to make it work? I believe I have read that somewhere on the forum.

I have a used voyager, with the serial no19750. It´s one of the firsts i think, theres no backlighting anywhere. So could I be missing the extra board inside the voyager, because of the age of it?

VX-351 comes with the daughter board. (If you are buying it new.)

Its a tiny board with decoupling capacitors. It has to be fitted in the Voyager. It has to be connected between the cable to the connection socket and the analog board of the Voyager.
It requires to open the Voyager, unplugging one ribbon cable, fitting the little board on the socket, plugging the ribbon cable on the little board, and closing the Voyagers back. It is easy to do within 5 mins. You need to have a few skills in opening electronic devices in order to protect you and your synth. And of cause you will have to unplug the Voyager from the mains before attempting to open it!
I am sure you will find people able to do this (if you are not liking the idea of doing it aourself) in your town. Even a person that upgraded his computer himself should be able to do this.

And there is no soldering or special tools required. Just a Philips screw driver is needed. It is that simple. Don't be afraid!
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

It is very easy. As Till said, if you have ever opened your computer and installed something, you can do this.
