I think it's just an analog sound module for a keyboard. So no CV ins or outs. But it sounds good!

Any word on price? I can't see spending more than $400 or $500 on something like that, but I'll bet they ask a lot more.

Well seeing the analogue solutions semblence (SEM remake) is $750 the actual SEM will probably be over 800

Tom said less than $1000 but I don't know how much less is "less". He also said that he would like to make the 2-Voice again, which is kinda easy since it's 2 SEMs, mixer and keyboard.

I would love to have a 2-Voice!

The CV ins and out are inside the box just like the original...they just need to be brought out via internal connectors; ie molex as the original and create a patch panel. I did this with my original SEM and it works great. The price is good also <$1000 as the original cost me around $600 back in 1977. Good to see Tom Oberheim back with his modern analog classic.

Does he own the Oberheim name? I thought Gibson had bought it and run it into the ground.

Tom isn't too interested in being associated with the OBMx or OB-12 debacles. I don't blame him.

I agree that the orginal SEM sounded great. I do like CV ins and outs but I am getting a bit more handy with circuts to making a patch panel for this might not be that hard.

I will wait and see what comes out.

I also heard under $1000

So...you need to add 1/4 inch jacks, and run wires from the inside to the jacks? Sounds simple enough. Cool! Now I KNOW I must have one or two of these!

I think Tom will receive more requests for just the enclosure and power supply than he expects.
Raw SEMs go for one price.
Stand-alone ones (SEM-1As) go for much more.

Voltor, while you can probably fit 1/4" jacks on the back, along the top will only allow 1/8" jacks I think.
Also, I understand the design will be SMD, so some mods and repairs may require magnification and some additional skills.
I have no idea what Tom will bring out to connectors, but I guess we'll all wait and see.
I think it would be a good idea to offer the package as one without the MIDI stuff on the left and a large field of jacks instead.

Although Tom cannot use the name Oberheim by itself or as a trademark, there's nothing that says he can't use his full name.
I actually prefer that as it's his own personal project.

Now if he remakes the OB-X, I will run through my town naked! Or even better, a rackmount version of the OB-X. And make it so we can store more presets.

Or a 4 voice SEM with preset capabilities.

He's back in business. This is good news.

Not to worry MOOG, I'll still buy anything you put out too.
