MP-201 Gate CV weirdness in QD (Quad) Mode...

Post by psound74 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 3:58 am

Hi everybody,

Anyone else experiencing lack of gate functionality when in QD (Quad) Mode? I've noticed that when I have CH1-3 set up as expression, CH4 as gate, CH4 won't activate/deactivate the gate but use the initial state only (eg, initial state is ON, can't turn it OFF) When in SGL (Single) Mode, using the CH3 switch to scroll to CH4, then the CH4 button operates the gate correctly.

Interestingly enough, on the stock preset 09 4X GATE, you can "trick" the gates into latching by pressing the channel to the right or left...(eg, press & hold the gate you want to latch, CH4, then press CH3; for CH1, hold it down, and press CH2) I don't know if this is a bug or feature, but it only works on the 4X GATE preset, not the one I'm having a problem with.

[Additional note, the Display (I have mine set to "VOLTS") does not change or represent the state of the gate(s)]

Are the gates linked somehow in the programming and I'm just missing it?

I love my MP-201's (s/n MP00435) "gas pedal" response - I want to love the rest of it, too!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yeah, I'm having trouble using the gate function as well as other things in Quad mode. (see my posts under 'No tap tempo in Quad Mode') It appears to be a software problem. I hope there's an update soon.

I hope so, too. There is a lot of functionality that could be added/improved.

I am pretty sure there will be. Cyril and I had some good discussions at NAMM about what needs to happen next with the MP-201, and it's definitely in the cards... I'll check in with him and see if we have anything like a timetable yet. Thanks, guys!

Thanks for replying, Amos. This is why I scrimped to get my MP-201, because of the support of you and the rest of the Moog crew. I look forward to the update.

thanks,
