Minimoog Range Tune problems. Help !!
Hi everybody, i've just get a beautiful minimoog model D serial number 6428. It' sounds great, very pure sound but ........................................................3 octaves down it should be. I've tried to tune using the back panel : I can tune it fine but not enough to bring my mini 3 octaves up. The modulation wheel doesn't work to. Maybe ther's a link between these to problems ? Is anyone has an idea ?
minimoog problems tuning
Hi, I found this for you: I hope I can be of help

There are several places where the problem could be.
First, have a look with an ohm-meter at the chain of resistors that run across the top of VCO 1 Octave Switch. You should see a 47ohm, then a row of precision 10ohm resistors. Check these with a multimeter, and add a little heat from a nearby iron or heatgun - the values should stay the same. I've seen these where the 47ohm resistor drifts right up to 60 ohms. If you have any doubts, replace them all with 1% or better low co-efficient resistors.
If the problem is contained to one oscillator, replace the CA3046.
Here's another good tip - go round the oscillator board with a Q-tip soaked in IPA and clean of grease, dust and residue, all of which can cause thermal effects when they build up enough, especially around the CA3046's.
Check the range, scale and octave presets have not gone noisy - replace them if they have.
And last but not least, ensure the edge connectors of the oscillator card are clean, and check the pitch remains stable if you wobble the card with the mounting screws loose.

Pretty sure the 12 pin Cinch connector under the left hand controller panel would be disconnected or a poor connection. The extra ovtaves you are looking for probably come from the pitch wheel. I would look there first! The condition you describe match those of a Mini with the wheels disconnected. Just a thought. Good luck!
