Lefty Theremins? Will Bob Moog give me the first?

Post by HowIMadeMyMillions » Mon May 17, 2004 5:28 pm

I have never had enough cash flow to have the moog synths I want and a theremin. Infact I've never even seen (let alone played) a real one (real meaning moogmusic or big briar versions). But I still was completely drooling the other day at some video of the etherwave pro in action at NAMM fest....my question, as naive as it sounds, is, do lefty players have to learn to play the way all do or will there ever be a switched version of the theremin? Or can you switch the volume and pitch ends? I assume people have better control of one hand then the other....so why not an option for which hand controls pitch? Mr. Moog was saying that the future of synths is now to refine their controllers....isn't this a way to do that? Anyodd if this question is not as dumb as I totally think it is, I hope Mr. Moog sends me the first version.... free....with his signature.... and cool blinking lights and.............:)

You can order your theremin on-line either standard (right-handed) or reversed (left handed).

I know this is a really stupid reply, but... Can't you just turn the theremin around? I realize you wouldn't be able to get at the controls, but as far as setting them before you play and going for it... Just a thought...

Post by samwise666 » Sat Oct 21, 2006 11:20 pm

I know it sounds silly but i was thinking this with guitar aswell....what if a left handed person learnt to play rght handedly?.......are there actuallly any implications if you have never played before any way.....

just a thought....

I have seen some lefties do exactly that.

There are some people who are ambidextrous and would have no problem doing this. But the thing is, when you have (as most people do) one-handedness, doing certain things is just easier with one hand than with the other.
