Voyager Select Cabinets

Post by EricK » Tue Jul 15, 2008 7:15 pm

Lets talk about the different cabinets and why you like them.

I really am interested in the mahogany, but I don't think ill be ordering from sweetwater.

My 2 choices are Traditional ASH

Black Ash.

Im really wondering if the Balck Ash looks all that wonderful. Its the same as on the Etherwave Std. Theremin right?

I really think the maple is too lite for my taste. Im going for

1. SOmething that halfway pays homage to the Minimoogs cabinet and matches my Foogers

2. I like the Black color cause it will match the Rhodes, the Micro and the Rack I bought. (Am i sounding like a woman lolol)

What are your thoughts on the various cabinets?

Originally I was going for the mahogany/lunar but Im thinking that its going to be either BLack ash Lunar or the Ash Electric Blue.

I am interested in your opinions.

THanks!

Well outta those two, I'd say Ash...

I kinda think black gets boring, as I have sanded it off my theremin and I am considering the same for my EB MMV..

Wood grain is just a beautiful thing !!

I've seen all of the select series up close and in person.. IMO, Mahongany is the most striking !

It would look great with any back lit color!!

i really like the all white cabinet with the black face and white back lights (i love instruments with black and white contrast, but oddly dont own any) but i also really like the classic woodgrain look ...so probably the mahogany with the indigo back light

I truly wanted the Mahogany with the lunar because its just my thing silver/black thats the rhodes the micro its me lol.

But Im thinking that perhaps lunar woud'nt be as nice if it wasn't on a black cabinet so Im thinking about the ASH with the electric Blue because Im just not crazy about the fire or the others excelt the lunar.

So its ash EB or Lunar.

Though if i had more options Id probably go with a cherry or walnut but I don't have those currently.

I appreciate your opinions.

How are the different color lights on the eyeballs.

I remember when I had my performer, the electric blue wheels could be harsh on the eyes.

Functionally, Im wondering what the optimal color is. Looks are great but if you get the lunar and it is harsh on the eyes or if you get the fire and can't see it then its not that great.

Having the dimmer switch makes a great deal of a difference. I almost wish they had a seperate dimmer for just the wheels.

Thanks for the pictures and your opinions/suggestions.

Respectfully,
Eric

I chose mahogany because the Hammond B3, M3 and A100 I used to own were mahogany. The Hammonds are long gone, so I never had the chance to enjoy the look of a mahogany Moog sitting atop a mahogany B3. For color I have jade. I'm happy with it. One thing I've noticed is you need a fair amount of light in the room to see the grain. At first glance most of my friend's didn't realize it was wood.

Ask amos to make sure, but I THINK there is a mini dimmer in the pitch/mod
assembly to adjust the brightness...
