I'm stuck deciding on which moogerfooger to purchase, it's either gonna be a MF-105 MuRF or the CP-251 110V. I've checked em out on moogmusic yet I'd rather hear from you guys since some of you own them. I really like deep rumbling bass and also mellow modulating/tremolo sounds. So that's what I'd aim to create with the module. Which of these Moogerfoogers would best suite me IYO?
Thanks!
Noob question about LP and Murf / CP251
Well for the tremelo the cp251.
I think most of those deep waveshapes are going to come from ur LP. The murf is more like a series of filters...I don't think that they will give you that rumbling bass as much as they will consecutively trim off what you already send to them. Its more like an EQ that when activated, modulates your signal 1 by 1 instead of all at once like traditional eq's. It would probably get your modulating tremelo sound though. Maybe Im not the one to reply lolol.
Doesn't the LP have all the tremelo that it needs?
Well I don't have either the LP or the Murf so I coudl be mistaken.
You might want to consider the Ring Mod, because it can produce some extreme low bass, and in its low freq mode, its a beautiful tremelo.

Just in a general way, I'd say the first MF to get with the LP is the CP-251. It gives you an audio noise source, another S/H, another LFO, and adds lots of options to expression pedals as well.
I know that doesn't address the specific sounds you have in mind, but if you want to think of the power of the system overall that's what I'd suggest. I've got an LP, CP-251, FreqBox, Lowpass, and Ring Mod, and if I absolutely had to trim it down to one MF the CP-251 would be the one to stay, just based on the number of options it adds to the system.
P.S. The CP-251 will add tremolo in the sense of an extra LFO, but if you want really deep (and variable) tremolo applied to the whole output signal, then the Ring Mod does that beautifully. And it also adds many interesting timbral possibilities, so that would be my next choice.
In terms of deep/complex/acidy bass lines, I'm not sure that any MF is going to significantly go beyond what the LP can already do. Although with a CP-251 you could play around with using the LFO or the S/H to trigger the LP envelopes. That allows for all kinds of quasi-sequenced sounds that you might milk for new bass ideas.

I didn't like the MurF with the LP -- I ended up selling it.
It produces that weird underwater noise pretty well, but otherwise seems to be a one-trick pony. (The guitar demos all sound sweet though).
It seems to be made for really long sustainy tones with lots of odd harmonics in them, which a straight LP really isn't.
After playing with various phasers also (including the Moog), I'm also inclined to believe I favor ringmods for synths. So I may pick up the Moog there as I'm not quite sure what the Freqbox does. I can sort of grok the idea of a 3rd OSC, but is all that mainly what it is?
