The fact it has a poly mode means you should wait a bit - there may be a module
on the off chance that the poly mode isn't just to control more than one LP , but perhaps
a keyboardless module?! I am oniy speculating - Moog are the only who know what is
ging to come....

The Voyager has had a Poly mode for a few years, but no expander as of yet. Still, you never know...

Don't hold your breath. A product like that wouldn't sell enough numbers to make it worth doing.

Maybe they'll do a Phatty rack at NAMM, though.

Not sold out yet?!?

Post by Assar » Sun Sep 30, 2007 2:29 am

Isn't it strange that the Tribute still isn't sold out? There are still LPs available in shops here in Sweden.
I mean, 2000 pieces worldwide isn't that much, is it?

1200 to be exact.

I bought mine 6 months ago and I still have the highest number in the "Tribute number" thread :-)

I'm also suprised with it still being available.

As for the Poly mode in the Voyager, the V has a RME edition which is a kind of "expansion" (if want to sell your grandma to get more voices) and I can't imagine stacking up 8 phattys with keyboards to get polyphony, so there has to be something to this Poly upgrade in the new LP OS, but I hope there won't be a 1voice/unit deal and each one will cost 500 bucks.

Ok, have to go practice my mono chops, my music teacher is comming tomorrow :-)

Ha, mono chops. :) A little story about that: I got a failing mark in a college music class because I couldn't play a certain piece using both hands together on the keyboard... I demonstrated that I could play the left-hand part flawlessly by itself, the right-hand part by itself, but when I tried to put them together the hands wouldn't co-ordinate. I tried to explain to the professor, look I have been playing keyboards for years, but they are all monophonic! One of my hands plays the keys and the other one is turning knobs!

He was a classicist, however, and he was not impressed. Oh well... at least I have my mono chops.

i think there are a lot of people out there who bought them for investment type things. bigcitymusic.com has some still available and they're cool people.

I think that it may have something to do with the fact that the Stage is such a bitchin' looking little unit. Frankly, if I would have had the opportunity to choose between the two, I would have chose the Stage. I love its industrial look--the rubber sides. Happy with the Tribute though.

Also the Stage has some advantages to the Tribute due to some technical changes (I can't remember what they are right now).
Thanks Bob!!

wasn't it a second mod destination? and something about each knob not being individual in some way? Real Analog something or other.

Occasionally I wonder about if I would've been happier with the Stage, I decided to get a TE after the stages were released, because of the wood panels and potential resale value. It was only stated later than the second mod destination offered a variation from the TE. But I honestly don't know how much that'd effect sounds, because no one has posted the sonic differences as far as I know.

I know I keep hoping to see all of them owned, but maybe some owners just aren't frequenting the Moog forums.

I got he Stage ..and i not found this addiction so useful,
because you can only send the same modulation to a secondary
destination... but using the same amount...and rarely this can be
useful...
(the amount good for pitch is not generally good for filter...and so on..)

The alternative source are more useful ...especially the S/H but
maybe thie is also on the tribute with the new os (???)

I think a second modulation channel with the ability to route it direct
(or using a different modulation than the mod-whell ...like envelopes
or lfo) could be a great addiction....but maybe this is the voyager....

anyway the suond of the LP is great ....anyway...

Last week I purchased my second Little Phatty!
I haven't tried the Poly Chain with OS 1.03Sc though..
* Edit: I tried it tonight and it works just fine, however, 2 voices is not that much.

The main reason for me to get a second LP was to sequence with one, and play the lead with the other (I also have an Alesis Micron and a Korg MS2000 and they just don't sound as good as the Moog).
