Bass FreqBox

Post by Xenollop » Sun Mar 11, 2007 1:06 pm

I'm excited about the Freqbox's arrival but I can't help wondering if Moog is going to release a bass version. I bought a Murf before the bass murf came out and as I play bass guitar this was a bummer. I still use it for low frequency stuff but it's a little sensitive.
Anyway...do you think this'll be the case with the freqbox?

Perhaps the FreqBox will track bass better than guitar, as the signal has less harmonics ( ? ).

Remember this unit doesn't pitch track anything, it just hard syncs the osc to the audio in. theoretically this should mean it doesn't matter what you use, the osc should sync to it very well. i lack the logistical circuit knowledge to know this for certain, but i know the sync on my little phatty works great regardless of what pitch range osc one is in.

it's the question how low the frequency of the VCO can go, or not?

I am also wondering how it will sound and track with Bass Guitar. I downloaded the manual, and it sounds like bass guitar might work very well, as the frequency of the incoming pitch needs to be lower than the frequency of the VCO, both for Hard sync and FM usage. Plus, the bass guitar is typically played monophonically and bass lends itself well to having good technique on fretting notes.

I looked and listened to the new video and sound samples that are on Moog Space, and they sound great, but they are all with the Voyager. While I understand where Moog would also want to push their other products, such as the Voyager, but couldn't they put some more sound samples out there with guitar and at least one or two with bass guitar? Is that too much to ask?
