Help with arp mode

Post by heckadactyl » Tue Oct 29, 2024 4:02 pm

EDIT: Finally found a solution to this -- the answer is "round robin mode" in the global settings. Unfortunately lots of the people showing off patches from the patchbook on youtube actually didnt have this selected and nor did the patchbook mention that you have to change this setting in order to get it to use 4 oscillators in 4 voice arp mode! So maybe this will be useful if anyone ever googles this in the future. :)

Hey everyone,

I recently got a matriarch and loving it...one thing I'm not sure about is in the arp mode with 4 voices. I would have expected 4 voice arp to work the same way it does normally - 1 oscillator per note. However no matter what, I can only get sound out of oscillator 1 when using the arp.

I noticed that one of the patches in the book (https://api.moogmusic.com/sites/default ... chbook.pdf) "Crystal Mountain" has you play an arp, but its set to 4 voice mode. I only get sound out of Osc 1, and it seems the same is true of this guy who uploads Matriarch vids from this patchbook:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjWypcZaiek&t=210s (30 secs in, you can see that only oscillator 1 makes any noise)

BUT then I stumbled across THIS vid, and it really seems like the oscillators are playing different notes on the arp when he adjusts at around 48sec:

Is this just the delay + oct/bank feature in action tricking all of us, and the oscillators 2,3,4 actually have no effect? It kinda seems like its actually split between the oscillators but I cant tell from this short video.

Running firmware 1.3 (just checked my global settings).

Thanks for any help!
