I don't own a Moog! No! I borrowed a friend's Moog Opus-3 and a Realistic MG-1, but my band recorded with a Korg MicroKORG . My friend says we were able to get the Korg to sound like a Moog Prodigy, but I'm not exactly sure what the Prodigy sounds like. You can check out two songs we recorded by clicking the link at the bottom. The synth part for Me and My Friends was written on an opus-3. The synth part on Rhino Loves Graham was written on the MG-1, but recorded with the korg. At any rate, if anyone reads this and wants to take a listen, please post back and let me know what ya think about the sounds compared to an actual moog.
The recordings are from an 8-song EP self-produced and recorded in my bedroom. rock-n-roll...

Hi there, first congrats on some cool songs.
The Krog Mirco is a good one osc moog immitator, and recon u would not get as close as this to a real Moogish(Prodigy/Micromoog/Mulitmoog/Minimoog) with the Opus-3. She is a not that easy to get swinging as its more there to immitate string/brass/organ.
One tip to get a Opus to sound cool is to use the relatively cheap MoogerFooger Lowpass Filter and a 12 Stage Phaser.
I do so and use the Organ/Brass in order to run the bass lines and filter it externaly. Gives a good bass indeed.
Good luck and keep me posted of any developments.

your band is pretty fuckin awesome...if you guys and gal go on tour...i say we swap shows... www.purevolume.com/dirtylarry is my band
...sometimes your best defense is a good reminder of your common sense...
wow, your band is pretty good. anyway w/ the whole moog and microkorg thing: one of my favorite bands, reggie and the full effect, generally use the moog prodigy, however, they've been using the microkorg on tour and it doesn't sound too much diff. the micro doesn't sound as "fat" as the prodigy (which i myself own) but it can pull off some good stuff. i myself would prefer my moog, but the microkorg is good as well. keep up the good work!

thanks
Thanks for the feedback! We've now posted our entire EP out there at our purevolume page if you're interested. Thanks!
