Taurus 1 problem: any insight?

Post by keb » Sat Oct 28, 2006 6:40 pm

My Taurus has an interesting little problem: the "Variable" preset is acting a little wonky. Here are the details:

All the other presets (Taurus, Bass, Tuba) work fine, but the Variable will only sound if I play a note using one of the other presets, and then switch to the Variable preset in mid-note. If I let the note die, and then switch to Variable, there will be no sound. The loudness envelope sliders (attack, sustain level, decay) under the flip top don't work, though the rest of the controls, including the filter sliders, do. So in essence, it's working off the sustain level carried over from the previous preset in use before switching to the Variable one. And the note sustains indefinitely (after taking my foot off the pedal) at the same level until I play another note, and that new note is again at the same level. Also, the Decay button must be on for those subsequent notes to be heard, or the sound dies as soon as I take my foot off to play a second note.

I've been looking over the schematics in an effort to localize where the wackiness could lie (it sounds like a weird short somewhere) but I was wondering if any of you guys familiar with the Taurus might have some insight.
