New Grandmother issue

Post by Nightfoot » Sat Jan 29, 2022 1:03 am

The synth is projecting a repeated note, audible even with the volume all the way down. The note changes whenever a different key is played, but even after the key is released, the note repeats over, and over. I just bought the Grandmother last night and haven't spent much time with it, but it wasn't doing that when I first turned it on and played it. I don't know if I inadvertently moved a knob that would cause the note to repeat, but even if that were the case, I don't understand why lowering the volume to 0 doesn't have an effect. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Long shot: but always use the GM power switch to turn it on/off.

I power cycled mine using a power bar for a while, and got strange behaviour until I figured out the cpu inside was acting screwy because of improper shutdown.

You can also run the calibration routine on it?

I was able to get it unstuck by repeating the necessary steps to update the firmware. I think I must have gotten out of sequence the first time I tried it and updated it up then invalidated it or erased it. I recalibrated the oscillators before the update debacle, so I'm going to do full recalibration, just to be sure. The suggestion to always cut power at the switch and not the power strip is a good one to remember, though. Thanks!

I got it up and running again by repeating the steps to update the firmware. I think I got out of sequence, somehow, when I tried it the first time, which is what I was doing when the problem arose. The tip to always power down at the switch, and not the power source is a good one to keep in mind. Thanks!
