LP Polyphony is limited

Post by rachel » Thu Oct 19, 2006 2:22 am

I have my MLP setup as my main controller now, but I am suspecting
something is up with the polyphony. It seems it is only 3 notes - is this correct?

I thought it should be able to send out at least 8 notes. Is this something
that is known, but can it be adjusted in software somehow?

Yes, I know it is a mono synth, but If I use it in local off mode and then make it
my controller through Logic, I should be able to bang out a big cluster
of MIDI note chords.

The only limit should be the number of keys on the keyboard (37). I can lay my arm on the keyboard and see (using midi-ox) lots of notes go out and stay on, then see them go off when lifting the arm. Is this what you mean?

I'm using firmware version 1.02c.

I'm using my Phatty as a controller in Logic as well, I can bang out thick jazz chords no problem. It's curious that you're only able to output 3 or so.

I don't use Local Off mode though, I just mute the Phatty when I'm controlling other things with it -- but I doubt that would make a difference.
cheers.

Thanks for confirming that for me, I think I have a MIDI routing problem.

It was a MIDI problem. I have 3 USB MIDI devices, one is an AMT (3x chained
together), a BCF2000 and an MX-200 reverb.

The last 2 were sending repeats of everything, making my system go haywire.

I think I have it sorted now... thanks!
