Hello,
I have been trying to use my Grandmother as a MIDI controller but am having problems. I am using Windows 10. I have connected the synth to my computer via the USB port on the back, but no signal is coming from the Grandmother. I have tested this out both in my DAW and in MIDI-OX. The Grandmother comes up as a device, but no signal comes through. I know that it isn't using any other applications, as I only have one program open at a time when trying to use it. I've even double-checked background processes with Task Manager. MIDI works just fine with my other devices.
I have read other forum posts about this, and most responses say to unplug and replug the cable, close chrome, turn of midi access in chrome, restart the computer and numerous other solutions. I have tried every single recommendation offered and have yet to fix the problem. I have been troubleshooting this for WEEKS now with no avail scouring multiple forums and reddit, and it's starting to get very frustrating since I can't use my synthesizer with midi, part of the reason I bought it.
Are there any other solutions anyone can offer? I really want to fix this.
HELP! No MIDI output coming from Grandmother
Re: HELP! No MIDI output coming from Grandmother
Have you tried to reset your GrandMother (GM)?
I had mine in a bad state and that was the only thing that helped.
Press and hold the HOLD button. While doing that press the sync button for a second.
Now keep holding the highest black key (A#2) and press the lowest black key (F#0). You should see some fast blinking of the PLAY / HOLD / TAP buttons. The GM has been reset. Power cycle the GM and hopefully your issue has been resolved.
The reset function was introduced in a FW update, so if you never updated your GM, try that instead.

I’m having issues updating it. I keep getting an error screen that says “transfer error.” I’m using a MIDI SysEx file transfer utility.pahlin wrote: Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:09 pm The reset function was introduced in a FW update, so if you never updated your GM, try that instead.

Hi there,
Did you ever find a solution to this? I’m having a similar problem. I’m on the latest firmware.
Thanks in advance.
