Ring Modulator for bass?

Post by BassMan246 » Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:29 pm

I'm thinking of getting a Ring modulator for my bass, Does anyone have any views on it whether its good or bad etc? Maybe a possible sound clip :) thanks in advance

Ringmodulation is a great effect for any instrument AFAIC. It gives you metallic distortions/overtones and or tremolo effects. Get it and any other Moogerfooger and I promise you will not be able to get the possibilities of modular fx/synthesis out of your head. You will always want more, more, more, more, more.................

Personally, I like the sound. Check out pretty much anything by Squarepusher. He uses ring mod on bass a lot.

Definitely! Check out the song "Boneville Occident" off the album "Go Plastic" Ring modulated bass is the first thing you hear on that song.

I second this. There is bass with ring mod all over Squarepusher's Ultravisitor album. I don't think he uses a moogerfooger, but its still a good example of what bass with ring mod sounds like.
