Three weeks with Minimoog Reissue

Have posted previously with my initial very positive impressions--an update after some half assed recording using it:

Formerly a Sub37 owner. I had made a handful of tracks with the Sub as bass and melody lines, etc in a mix with electric guitars, drums, vocals. It was fairly difficult to get it to sit well in a mix so that the full character of the bass sound was present. I'm not a pro by any means, but I've dabbled in home recording for 15+ years across various levels of equipment. Ultimately, after significant tweaking, the Sub37 would serve ok for bass lines, not much character beyond bottom end. It played very well for melody lines and higher register stuff however.

Now after having recorded a few tracks with the Minimoog, again serving as bass and melody lines in same type of mixes, I can't overstate how much easier it is to get a useable interesting sound in the mix. Especially the bass. Comparing each synth on a eq scope, it's obvious how much more frequency range the Minimoog has even when just doing bass lines. There's a sizzle and fuzz above 2k hz that just makes it pop in a mix. In comparison, Sub37 is pretty dead in the higher range.

Now I'm sure there's ways to get Sub37 to be excellent in a mix, but out of the box, Minimoog is so nice and easy to integrate into a track. Love love love it.
