does a stock Voyager + CP 251/VX 352 offer any more versatility than an XL?
the cost would be substantially less, and the only difference I can see is an additional wave type option on the XL's LFO
the XL is missing all of the inputs/outputs on the top of a stock Voyager. So it seems to me, a stock Voyager + CP 251/VX 352 would have more connective options?
the only advantage otherwise on an XL would be the longer keybed...and ribbon controller. but the ribbon could be added to a Voyager, if you really wanted it?
thx

The XL has 2 additional powered mults. The 2 attenuators on the XL patch panel are more versatile. Also the "missing" I/O from the stock Voyager is on the patch panel of the XL - nothing missing that I can see. What's your thought on adding a ribbon to the stock Voyager? I have a couple extra ribbons for my Kurzweil PC3x but I'd have to interface them through the PC3x and over to he Voyager via MIDI. Wouldn't be to hard to make a box to handle multiple ribbon controllers.ummagumma wrote:does a stock Voyager + CP 251/VX 352 offer any more versatility than an XL?

Re: Voyager XL vs Voyager + CP 251/VX 352
Cost was a factor when I went XL, but I got a good deal on one, so it wasn't as much of an issue.
I like having it all in one, and didn't even realize about the fact that the XL had more powered mults over the Voyager + external boxes.
Also, having the longer keyboard makes it easier to jam out, and use as a master controller.

it appeared to me that the XL just had the 251/352 attached but didn't have the jacks on top, that the regular voyager has
so it looked like would have less patch points
thx for the clarification!
the longer keyboard looks attractive, but I doubt I'd use the ribbon controller much. I rarely use the XY pad either
