Overall Instrument Master Tune???

Post by Man-Machine » Sat May 13, 2006 9:24 pm

It seems like the tunning on my Mini either needs some calibration or I'm missing a basic setting somewhere. If I initialize a patch and have the fine tune knob at 12 o'clock I get a perfect E when I hit an A. I don't even have enough room on the knob to reach an A. The transpose settings are at 0 in the Master section. Is there any other setting for the overall tunning of the instrument to be at 440 Hz? This is driving me crazy!

Thanks for any help.

Ok, I think I got it. It seems like my used Minimoog came with some older patch bank that based on some previous posts are out of tune in the 2.5 OS. Even doing a patch init didn't fix the tunning which was really weird. When I updated the OS to 3.2 and used the correct Anniversary Edition patch bank things seem to be working right now. My question now is how do I get these older banks to play in tune on the current OS???

The only thing I can think of is that the pitch wheel reseting would be the cure. Some stories I've heard said that earlier models never returned their pitch to A440 when changing patches until the pitch wheel had been used and then they default to normal pitch. If this is the case, the only thing I could suggest is to reset the wheel and save the patch.

My AE had problems on 3.0 when I would use the cursor to change banks. When I did the V'ger would be out of tune until I moved the pitch wheel. When I upgraded to 3.2 the problem went away.
