I had quite a bit of trouble with the trigger generator. It kept seeming backwards to me until I realized it was backwards. There was a small oscillation in the CV buffer which is connected to a guard ring and cable shield. There is a 25 KHz triangle generator that puts a signal on the CV that gets detected to generate the trigger and obviously the detector couldn't distinguish between the two.
