Sysex woes

Post by jwolford » Sun Aug 28, 2016 5:30 pm

Hi all,
I am having intermittent issues with my Voyager Select Series (system version 3.6 beta found on Knob Tweakes, Boot version 3.5)

Intermittently, it will fail to receive or send sysex and I'll be prompted with a message on the LCD screen that says "Send/Recieve Sysex is disabled" or similar Sysex error.

This is primarily an issue when using the Voyager Editor software to navigate banks and presets. I click through the presets in the editor software, and the Voyager does not update. The MIDI light will flash on the Voyager, but the Voyager does not change presets and the error may or may not appear on the LCD.

I tried and failed repeatedly to restore the OS to factory settings which gives me the "System Exclusive Transfer has failed!!" error.

At some point, I was able to reload banks form Sysex Librarian, and for a minute this morning all seemed fine. Now I am back to the random syses errors. While typing this message, I unplugged the MIDI connections, then the Factory reset worked, and all is well for right now.....

How do I clear this up? Can I and should I roll back to system version 3.5?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi,
it makes no sense to run different software versions. The boot version must be the same as the system version otherwise you get problems.
Here you can get the latest versions and some infos (post no. 5):

OK got it working, I had not followed these steps that Rudi had posted:

The update file order is:
1) go to the MASTER page "Receive Update" and send bank "B".
2) then if the Voyager asks for bank "D" leave "NO" and press ENTER.
3) in the MASTER menu go to "Receive Update" and send bank "A".
4) now when the Voyager asks for bank "C" select "YES" and ENTER and
send bank "C" to the Voyager. Do the same thing with bank "D".

Check after the update whether the boot and the system numbers are the same
in the MASTER "Software Version" menu.
