Salsa or Jazz
I am a fan of music. I love to expan my collection whenever possible, while keeping it economical. My coworker at Universal informed me that the Fania collection is being restored and sold. I really enjoy classic salsa and jazz and now that Emusica purchased the Fania collection I will be able to enjoy artists liek Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, and Hector Lavoe.

What do other people here think? Its a few times now that we've had a very similar kind of spam post, each time saying someone at Universal is connected with it.
Obviously it's nothing to do with Universal. But is it worth letting Universal know their company keeps getting named when people are spamming websites? Or is that making too much of it?

I wouldn't be so sure about that - some genius at Universal may have decided that this "viral marketing" approach is a great idea. Viral Marketing is very hip now with the suits.Sweep wrote:Obviously it's nothing to do with Universal. To be honest, it shows how amazingly lumbering and stupid major labels are. Instead of finding artists who have their own genuine buzz going on, they hire people to spam forums and generally annoy and alienate their potential audience. I mean, in what way is this even slightly related to Moogs? Eh?
Good way to make people not buy anything you put out, Universal!*
*Disclaimer: I'm biased because I used to be published by MCA / Universal and they were bleeping useless.

This type of marketing shows that record labels have nothing but contempt and disdain for their customers. And they wonder why people don't feel bad about downloading music for free...
Nice try, but its a rather desperate strategy, don't you think? I mean, you'd expect this kind of stuff from a sex website or an online scam, but this is supposedly a legitimate business...

In view of what's been said I think I'll refer this to Universal. If it really is their fault they need to know it's backfiring. And if (as I suspect) they have no connection with it, they need to know people are getting a bad impression of their company (in addition to the good reason for a bad impression mentioned by Joyti).
