Hi,
I just got a Sub Phatty and I'm very new to this. Is there a way to tap the tempo within SP panel? Any hidden functions maybe? The manuel says that we can connect and external midi clock device for LFO rate control, though, I don't want to spend extra money just to be able to tap the tempo.
I also have a TC-VoiceLive2 vocal processor, which has a tap tempo switch for its delay times and such. So, as an option:
Can I -for example- connect that processor to SP thru midi, "only" to receive the clock tempo? Without other tweaks on the processor effecting the sound on SP?
If none of the above is possible, I'd appreciate who can suggest me a small, cheap and good pedal or switch - just for setting Sub Phatty's LFO rate through its midi clock...
I don't need anything fancy or with lots of functions. All I need is a simple tap button I can hook up to SB so that I can set the LFO rate.
Thanks!

Re: Tempo Tap For Sub Phatty - LFO Rate Control
Come on people... Really? No one has anything to say about this? I've been searching the matter for the last few days on the internet. I contacted Moog with an e-mail as well but no replys! I feel like I'm the only one in the world trying to sync their LFO rate to the bands tempo...

Hi jeffparadox, jeffparadox wrote:Come on people... Really? No one has anything to say about this?
First, it would definitely help to put a forum question about a Phatty on the Phatty forum (instead of General Topics).
There is currently no way to set a Sub Phatty's LFO Rate via (an onboard) Tap Tempo.
I typed "tap tempo midi pedal" into Google and found these:jeffparadox wrote:I'd appreciate who can suggest me a small, cheap and good pedal or switch - just for setting Sub Phatty's LFO rate through its MIDI In.

The answers to learn (via the TC manual) are:jeffparadox wrote:I also have a TC-VoiceLive2 vocal processor, which has a tap tempo switch for its delay times and such. So, as an option:
Can I connect that processor to the Sub Phatty via MIDI, "only" to receive the MIDI Clock's tempo?
Does the TC-VoiceLive2 have a MIDI Out?
Does it transmit MIDI Clock?
Does it transmit MIDI Start?
(This one may or may not be important. I can't remember if the Sub Phatty requires a MIDI Start to make the LFO follow Clock.)
Check the TC manual to see if its front panel knobs send MIDI CC Messages. I don't think there's a hidden MIDI In Filter parameter on the Sub Phatty that would block the TC's knob turns. Maybe the TC has a way of not sending knob CC Messages (if it normally does).jeffparadox wrote:Can I connect that processor to the Sub Phatty via MIDI...without other tweaks on the processor effecting the sound on SP?
Or, maybe you'll just get lucky and there won't be any overlapping CC #s between the two devices.

Re: Tempo Tap For Sub Phatty - LFO Rate Control
Thank you for the replys. I wrote to general forum cause my problem involved a other machines than Moog. I felt it was a general question in principle, though, I guess you're right. Writing to Phatty forum would be better.
I've already made the tech search about the pedals and VoiceLive2. Some features of VL2 were vague in the manuel, but those questions were later answered by the manufacturer...
The main reason I wrote here was to hear from someone who already tested that kind of setup, so that I can know it will work properly before I spend 200 euros on a pedal.
Moog replied my mail after one week but it was brief:
"There is no way to TAP Tempo for the LFO.
You can send just simple Midi clock to set LFO rate/tempo/etc."
So I'm still not sure if one of those pedals such as Tempode or Polytec34 will work properly with a SubPhatty. Since this problem didn't relate to other people much, in other forums also, I guess it's a quite personal one...

Yes, just a difficult situation when you´re about to record without knowing the exact tempo.
But, if you send a CC #3 message you can set up right the amount that you want. Please check page 38 of the Sub Phatty manual, it was very helpfull for me.
