Moog Prodigy sound / Moogerfooger ... Help!

Post by Rnwest » Sat Jan 14, 2006 11:31 pm

Im interested in buying my first moogerfooger and one thing I would like from it is a the ability to create a moog prodigy sound with it. Im not sure which moogerfooger to purchase, and Im not sure if I need the CP-251.

To create a moog prodigy sound would what moogerfooger should be purchased? Which moogerfooger do you own and would you suggest buying the CP-251?

Any help would be great. A moog prodigy sound is not the only thing Im interested in, and the more versatility I can have the better. Thanks!

i don't know anything about analogue synths (i'm a guitar player) so i can't comment about that at all, but you do know that the moogerfoogers are along the lines of guitar fx pedals and not actually a synth. so the sound you get totally depends on what audio signal you're processing with the fooger (when i put my guitar sound or audio from an old lp through the ring mod i get two really different sounds).

my take on musical instruments is that they are what they are. try out different mf pedals and see what you like and what you think you'd use. but if you really want a moog prodigy-sound, i'd say try and find a prodigy (just found one on ebay for around $350 with less than a day left). otherwise you're just stuck with something that only kind of does what you want (if at all) and that you don't necessarily appreciate for what it actually is and can do.

that said, i have the delay and the ring mod and really like both. they're really really versatile (just depends on how creative you get with using them). i definitely would like to buy other mf's and the control processor once i can fund the purchases. i also mess around and see what i come up with rather than having a sound in mind that i'm trying to replicate.

hopefully that helps some.
