Sub 37 Poly note assignment

Post by joe_moog » Thu Aug 14, 2014 2:57 am

A behavior I recall from the Slim/Little Phatty firmware was that the note assignments in Poly mode were 'round robin'. By that I mean that if you had it set up for 3 voice polyphony and you were playing a monophonic sequence, the notes would be assigned to Phatty 1 >> Phatty 2 >> Phatty 3 >> Phatty 1, and so on. This meant that if you played a couplet at any given time, you would not know which two Phattys would be sounding notes and which one would be silent. (Not necessarily a problem, although the voices not contributed by the controller unit will not retrigger their envelopes.)

All that rambling was because I wonder whether on the Sub37, polyphony can be implemented such that in Duo mode with Sub37 as controller and several monosynths chained to it in poly mode, playing any chord will trigger the lowest/highest/first two note values assigned to the Sub37 and the remainder to synth2, 3, 4, and so on. Does that make sense, is it possible, and is it preferred behavior?
