Here's what's new in the January 2006 SquareWave
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Featured Photo:
With the holidays over, we return to our regular banner page highlighting cool gear photos from fellow Voyager owners. This month we feature a great looking Voyager and modular rig photo from Orbital Decay (thanks for sharing this, Terry!)
---
Site Map:
New this month! Our site map is a PDF chart displaying the contents of every folder on SquareWave, including the current month's offerings. Makes locating both new and old files easier, and is especially handy for new members. The Site Map will be updated each month.
---
Voyager FYI:
Last November, we discussed the Voyager's Modulation Busses. This month we tackle the Voyager's other modulation resource, Pot Mapping. In 'On the Map', we explain Pot Mapping in detail, compare the differences between Pot Mapping and Modulation Buss programming, and offer useful mapping tips from fellow SquareWave members.
---
Voyager Reference Pages:
We've added a Pot Mapping PDF reference page detailing all the Source, Destination, Direction and Amount programming options. Another handy reference for all Voyager users.
---
Resources:
Did you know that Bob Moog was commissioned to design and build a special ribbon controlled Theremin-like device for the Beach Boys, so that they could perform 'Good Vibrations' live? That's one of the many interesting facts found in 'Strange Sounds: Offbeat Instruments and Sonic Experiments in Pop', by Mark Brend. This new text from Backbeat books features chapters on the Theremin, Ondes Martinot, Clavioline, Tape Manipulation, Electronic Music in the USA and many other unusual instrument subjects. Bob Moog's name returns time and time again throughout the chapters. Learn more about 'Strange Sounds' by checking our updated Recommended Reading list.
---
Monthly Mashup:
This month we filled our sonic MixMaster with patches from the Electric Blue and Thomas Wolf banks. 'Sky Saw Sync' and 'T.Wolf's Guitar' were combined to form a neat sync lead patch we call 'Sky Wolf'.
---
Photos:
A few new photo albums from Gustavo and Oyster Rock. Nice studios, guys!
---
Links:
Added to the Bob Moog folder, a link to a site featuring several cool photos of Bob checking out a Moog modular synth (the fourth one he built!) at the University of the Arts (UArts) in Philadelphia, PA. (Thanks to Scott Bryan for the link.)
---
We hope that 2006 is the best year ever for our members!
