Nothing to do on day 3 of the strike so. . .

Post by OLFAudio » Thu Dec 22, 2005 5:15 pm

Howdy-
Day three of the strike here in NYC Not much is going on except a great Godzilla marathon on the scifi channel. Bad time to have my DVD player break.

I finally kinda finished putting together my Moog corner and would like to show off all my hard work to the only people that really care. This is to say that wife just shakes her head and says "Cute" I would hope she would have more respect for it b/c it does pay the bills.

Wow, Pretty neat......I wish I had that much space in my crowded room.

Congratulations for your Moogercorner.

Very nice rig. It looks quite fun.

In picture 391, what is the unit between the 2 Moogerfoogers ontop?
Music can Name the Unnamable and Communicate the Unknowable.

'I am... everything is... changed... they're calling... your face... interwoven... who is...' Patient mumbles inaudibly to a tune (sounds like 'Thanks for the memory).

Nice work! Nicely ergonomic, too, and pretty sexy under minimum lighting!

I see you've got KRK's for monitoring. I love mine - I returned a pair of M-Audio BX5's to get the KRK's and have never regreted it.

You should post your photos on SquareWave - they'll take much less time to view.

Thanks -
The box in the middle is a Schumann PLL analog octave fuzz pedal.

I agree that the KRKs are vastly superior to the BX5's but I don't really trust them for serious monitoring. The bass is very wishy washy. But, they are easy on the ears so you can listen to them all day. I have a pair of Mackie 824s that I might try to sqeeze in instead of the KRKs but they are very deep and wide. Also, they might be a little too powerful at that close range. I've come to believe that you will not get decent bass representation without at least an 8" woofer. Anyways, it's something new to try.

I'll look into the squarewave posting thing. That's a great site BTW Greg

Very nice indeed! :) I hope to one day rack my foogers.

BTW, what type of cabling are you using for the patchbay to foogers and colored patchcords?

Oh, and the strike is over :D

shhhhhh. . . Don't tell anyone. I'm hoping I don't have to work tomorrow.
Hee Hee.

The cables I'm using are from some guy on ebay. Can't remember the sellers name but he is always there. They are basically Hosa quality (+/-) but black and less expensive. I don't know that better quality cables helps transferring CV.

For the patchbay cables I use black balanced cables for CV and Red balanced for audio signal flow. Most of them I soldered myself but there are some el cheapo's in there for when I run low.

I thought they were Hosa type but wasn't sure. Yea I don't think there's a difference in quality when it comes transferring CV. But some patch cables are built better around the barrels than others. I'm using CBI Instrument cables as patchcords but I hate how the barrel can come unscrewed. They're cheap, just haven't had a chance to replace them.

Thanks for the info though.

Bodie (Alan Relo) created a custom cabinet for four 'Foogers, two CP-251's and a patch bay. He posted a picture of it on SquareWave. Neat concept and good execution. You might want to consider something like it .
