Sound just died on my Minitaur

Post by Moogite » Thu Oct 03, 2013 11:10 pm

While using my Minitaur I suddenly heard a pop or cut in the sound, and then it stopped making any sound at all.

The midi indicator shows that it is receiveing a signal and I have reset the midi channels on it and all midi controllers, to no avail.

At the time it happened I was using a midi controller connected by a midi cable and have since tried using it on my computer through usb, but nothing has worked.

I have also tried leaving it turned off for a while then turning it back on again, but I have a terrible feeling my minitaur has just died on me.

I've had it less than a year but live in Australia and dread having to send it overseas to get looked at, so any suggestions before I take this step would be greatly appriciated.

Please help!

A belated update, just in case anyone else has had this problem.

I exchanged a few emails with tech support at Moog and it turned out the main serial cable inside the synth had become loose. I had to open the thing up and reconnect it, but it falls out easily and you really have to jam it in to make it stay.

I now keep a phillips screwdriver handy when using my Minitaur... Problem solved.
