Step sequencer options, EF-303

Looking at what might be available. I have an opportunity to buy a used Roland EF-303....unfortunately there is no CV out on the 303. I wonder if by connecting the midi in/out between the SF and the 303 I might attain the same result, that is to say, the 303 triggering midi in the SF. Also might I not then run the audio out of the Moog into the EF-303 and use the step sequencer to configure effect parameters on the audio. Anyone try this or have experience with the 303?
