MG-1 inputs

Post by microscope » Tue Aug 16, 2005 2:20 pm

Has anyone tried to plug a guitar or any other instrument into their Moog? I've got an MG-1 and it has RCA inputs. Is it possible to run a guitar through there and tweak the filters to produce some cool effects? Can you do any damage this way?

Thanks

The RCA's on the MG-1 pass audio directly to the output. It does not go through the filter or anything, just right in and right out. I have read that this was so you could hook it up to your stereo and play along with your favorite Hooked on Classics record.
There is an Input Mod that you could have a tech perform. You can find documents about it online. I have no personal expreience with that. But I would suggest keeping the MG-1 as is, and buying a MoogerFoorger Filter pedal for your guitar. That will do what you are looking for and probably sound better. I doubt the MG-1 had the same quality components that the foogers have now.
Good Lukc,

I recently did the audio-in mod for the MG-1's filter. It's a very easy mod, if you're able to solder.

Basically, you just want to tie a jack to the mixer section. You'll need to preamp the signal, but you can use the filter on the external input.
