MF-104SD

Post by Yawgmoth » Mon Jul 11, 2005 7:05 am

The (good) rumor says that Moog Music are building two Analog Delays both slightly more expensive and both with more delay time than the original, MF-104. The MF-104SD will be a very limited edition of 250 pieces (SD = 'Super Delay'). The original MF-104 had a delay time of 800 msec. The SD will have a delay time of 1400 msec or 1.4 seconds. MoogMusic will broadly announce the availability of the MF-104Z (it will be introduced publicly at Summer NAMM – July 22). The Z will be a 1000 msec delay. One Full Second of delay time will make the MF-104Z the longest standalone analog delay module on the market.

Dealers should sell these for $749.

Ouch!

That's expensive. I guess it's a deal compared to the $1,640 MF-104 that went on Ebay.

I'm curious as to what parameters will be modulated by CV. Can't wait for NAMM.

Hello,

Just got the newsletter announcing the 104Z and it looks like an excellent piece of kit.
Would be interesting to know if bbd chips are being manufactured again for general use, or if its a custom deal similar to what CEM is doing with their chips for the Evolver series.

Regards,

LWG

I think if you have a line in with a dealer that knows about the SD, you may consider the pre-order on it. Since there are going to be a very limited run of these, I think dealers will not be able to get very large allotments, they'll sell out quicker than the Z version, but I"m sure the Zs will move quite briskly too....does anyone know what is the total number in this run of the MF104Zs?

Sweet. And I thought my Murf was expensive! The SD sounds nice, but that is a very limited run if confirmed. Let's see how it shakes out.

Does anyone have an idea when the 104 SD is planned on being released? Also, if there's only 250 of them, it would seem that they would sell for more than the 104 Z?

I think they'll both be released in September. The SD is like a $100 more than the Z. The prices listed were MSRP so they were cheaper when I checked Sweetwater prices for example. They're selling the Z for $689.97. The SD was $700 something but I can't remember exactly because they took the information down due to the limited run. I did put an order in for the SD though.

Depending on the dealer, the SD may be available sometime in mid-August, so good for you that you scored one...(the price I saw was $799.99)

does anyone know the shortest delay time on the SD?
I'll probably be getting the Z unless the SD has a shorter delay time and i'm lucky enough to get one.

I'm a bit pissed off (not really i'm thrilled at the chance to get a 104 of any kind) that the original has 10ms shorter shortest (104 = 40-800ms, 104z = 50-1000ms) delay time than the z but i wouldn't pay $900 more for 10ms if you know what i mean.

someone must know more about the sd come on guys!
