Dang! and phew!

Post by filtered » Fri Oct 05, 2012 4:50 pm

5 days left on my warranty, the left output goes out (when in stereo)- got my RMA, and shipping her off :(
Any RMAers out there had a similar issue? If so, what was your a turnaround time? I have a relatively important gig the 27th (important enough for me to cancel my Moogfest plans)- The Minibrute will be okay til then...

Dang indeed ! Luckily it was still under warranty.

Starting to wonder if Moog Music was not a victim of some bad batches of certain components ? I know that, all models combined, they've produced many thousands of Voyagers, and that the more there are out there the higher the odds of some becoming defective, but still...

I'd be curious to know the number of repairs done under warranty to Voyagers ? (of course, I don't expect to ever be able to know these things... )

Anyway, best of luck to you. And I hope you won't get separated too long from your beloved Moog. You could always get a Minimoog D as a back-up synth ?

I've sent both my LP and Voyager back on RMAs... I would expect it to be back 4 weeks from when you shipped it... But if you live closer to Asheville, then it would probably be quicker (1 week out and 1 week back from seattle). It took them about 2 weeks to get to my unit and send it back.

I can vouch for that also, though once they were a bit quicker with a Fooger.

Well, you have to give it up for Moog customer service!! Shipped it out to them last Friday, and it's fixed and back TODAY! Which is GREAT, because I had forgotten a weekend gig! Of course me being in NC is a big part of it, but when I let the tech know I had forgotten the gig, he made sure to get it on and off his bench in record time- go Moog!!! :D

You can be sure it is...

Glad you could get your beloved Old School back so fast. :D

One question though, is it well calibrated ? When mine came back, on the first occasion when it had to go for repairs because of a faulty S&H, it was badly out of tune (improper scaling), and had to go back a second time to get that fixed...

After that it was ok, but I had decided to sell it, by then.

yeah it's good- I just got back from rehearsal and it tuned right- the 5th tuning I use on Osc 2 was actually more in line with how it should be, knobwise- very glad to have that 2nd filter back; it gives that nice alternative to hipass/lowpass mode- very vocal with the spacing spread a bit!

Yeah. Sometimes I miss this feature a little on my Mini D. But to compensate, I've just moded it to add osc sync, which sounds a bit different than the sync on a Voyager (in a good way)...
