Chords with Voyager and Freqbox?

Post by MBlom » Mon Aug 06, 2012 1:17 pm

I consider getting a Voyager sometime in the future, and while spending my time saving and dreaming I thought I'd imagine what can be done with a Voyager and the equipment I already have. One thing I thought about was if you can make chords with a Freqbox. My idea is this:

Osc 1 and 2 on chord base note (don't know the term in english). Osc 3 tuned seven seminotes up (the fifth, right?). Tried this when I tested a Voyager recently and I really liked the sound of it. But here's the question. Is there any way to press down chord base note and the minor/major note and transmit the latter of those via MIDI-CV or CV to a Freqbox and the output of that into external in? That way you can play three note chords by pressing down base note and minor/major.

The fundamental. I guess this is the word you were looking for ;)

I don't know much about the Voyager since I'm a phattist, but I've heard many times about Pot Mapping. Here's what may be an idea: use the pot mapping with modwheel or any pot to modulate the pitch of one oscillator by one semi-tone, precisely the oscillator dealing with the third, hence getting a minor or major perfect chord by manipulating the pot/wheel.

Any Voyager user could try it out...?

Stiiiiiiiive's suggestion is right on the money. I've done this, and it works very well. Of course, this results in chord a lot of parallel motion between your chords, but it's a fun way to get a consistent pad sound between major/minor harmonies.

cheers!

Run that through chorus for some really luscious pads :D
