Minitaur Problems in Ableton

Post by ParalysiS » Wed Aug 01, 2012 2:16 pm

I got my minitaur about a month ago and I've been having problems trying to get it to work smoothly in ableton ever since. At first, everytime i connected it via usb to ableton, the VCO2 and release switch were permanently stuck on, no matter how many times i pressed them and it was just a pain to set up so the midi notes actually recorded onto a track in live. I got a new pc the other day, so installed everything again and started ableton. This time it is just the release switch which is stuck, so i effectively dont have a knob for amp/filter decay. This is just becoming a pain in the ass and i cant be bothered with it.

Can someone help me solve this problem before i throw it out the window!! lol.

Thanks!

EDIT: I also have a Little Phatty Stage II that works fine with Live.

As far as I understand it, whilst the Minitaur has an all analogue signal path, all the features can be under digital (MIDI) control, which might be where this issue arises.

I'd first recommend you download the latest version of the Editor, which is at version 1.0 and see if that helps.

Second, open the Under The Hood part of the editor (which is in the View Menu option at the top of the screen after you launch the editor). In the lower part of the screen you'll see all you input and output MIDI ports.

Click the Refresh button, which I assume will reset/reload all the ins and outs on your system.

You could also try pressing the Panic button (under the Minitaur Editor menu at the top of the screen after you've launched the editor).

If none of these things work, maybe Ableton is sending out some odd MIDI CC information. Try loading a fresh Ableton session too.

It's also possible the Minitaur unit isn't behaving as it should. In that case, take it back to the dealer and swap it for a new one. The dealer might want to see you replicate the problem on their computer. If it all works fine, then it could be your set up of Ableton. Check all the Preferences for MIDI and Sync in your Ableton session too.

I'm not sure if any of the above will help, but worth trying.

BTW - do you get the same problem with any other DAW, or in stand alone operation (ir just hooked up to a MIDI controller and listening on phones), or by using a standard 5 pin MINI cable?

Richard.
