Q on shaping using Filt Env.

Hi guys.
I'm making a patch and I'd like one of my modulations to decrease in intensity to zero over the course of (say) 1.5 secs. The filter envelope isn't being used to modulate the filter (0 "amount" set). So, I set up the filter envelope with zero attack, 1.5 secs of decay and 0 sustain, and I've set the shaping on the mod bus to Filt. Env.
I expected this to create an intense modulation at the attack, which fades out with the filter env decay. However, from what I can hear, the shaping can't go the whole depth of the amount? Plus, unfortunately, the shaping appears to have no effect when the amount is at 0.
Am I correct in thinking this? If so, is there a workaround I can use? If not, is this something that could be achieved with the VX-351? Cheers,
T
