Sold my Phatty Tribute Edition/ Bought a Phatty LE (CV/GATE)

Post by winchavez » Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:28 am

Thats right! I sold my Moog Little Phatty Tribute Edition (#42 of 1200) with Tribute 2.0 Factory Upgrade, and bought a new Moog Little Phatty Stage II "LE" (Limited Edition) with Factory Mods Pre-Installed (http://www.noisebug.net/site/keyboards_ ... .cfm?ID=31), and I couldn't be happier! It looks BEAUTIFUL! The red is actually much more nicer, warmer, subtler than the photoshopped image on the noisebug website. I really prefer the Stage II Factory Presets over the Tribute Edition Factory Presets! Happy as can be! And Feels good to know I won't have to keep updating/upgrading the Tribute Edition, and sending it out to Moog, every time there is a new Little Phatty Update/Upgrade! One happy Mooger : )

Here is a cheap pic I took with my cheap cell phone (the LEDs are actually red! but the cheap cell phone made the LEDs look amber in the picture): http://i634.photobucket.com/albums/uu62 ... ge-1-1.jpg

Thought I'd share. What do you guys think by the way? Would you have done the same? or hung on to the more rare, elusive Little Phatty Tribute Edition (with Tribute 2.0 Factory Upgrade)?

Thanks for looking/sharing : )

I would have spent slightly more and got a Voyager Keyboard from Noisebug at their recent sale
I think they had the shop floor Voyager keyboard brand new at $2495 (Im not talking about the RME)

david bulog, $2,495 isnt just "slightly more" from $1,475 for me, but thank you for your comment :) p.s. I actually went on the perfect day cause during artwalk everything is 10% off!! It couldn't have gone any better for me! I love my new Phatty!

I have recently added the LP II le to my modular and I love it!
Does anyone know if there is a mod that allows Pitch bend to be included at the CV pitch out?
Ideally you could switch it in or out.

NO! For some reason (I was one of the early takers of the CV mod) they opted to take CV 'before' the pitch or glide which imo was a big mistake. If you work with Moog (via Tech Support) you may be able to have yours built custom; they are pretty good about that sort of thing and fair from a pricing perspective. I have no idea if it was an oversight [doubt it] or problematic to do it otherwise (could be that it was relatively easy to solder a point onto a surface mount resistor but next to impossible to pull a leg from an IC given the circumstances).

I can tell you that I recently picked up an Oberheim SEM (Tom OB that is; the new one) with Midi to CV module and it DOES have CV out AFTER pitch bend and portamento; makes a world of difference and I've added a Freqbox to the SEM (which tracks perfectly btw); what a world of difference. Having said that, it's still worth pursuing LP w/CV.

OMG I didn't even know this LE existed! It's pretty nice man, congratulation! I saw a phatty on this forum the other day with blue leds and a blue/red/green mod and pitch wheel with custom wood sides, I wonder how you can manage to change the color of the leds its pretty badass. The red aluminum plate on your's is really a nice exclusivity though!!
